Landrum Endowment Fund Opens Inaugural Grant Round

Upcoming Grant Application to Fund Ross County Projects Improving Lives of Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

Chillicothe, OH – The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio and the Ross County Board of Developmental Disabilities are pleased to announce a grant opportunity that will support projects related to improving lives of individuals with developmental disabilities in Ross County, Ohio.

The Landrum Endowment Fund’s first grant round is seeking nonprofit and public organizations that have projects directly tied to the Fund’s mission. Organizations based outside of Ross County are welcome to apply, although grant proposals must focus on Ross County residents.

The grant round will specifically focus on the areas of advocacy, community inclusion, community employment, and parent/family support.

The Landrum Endowment Fund was created in 2016 after George Landrum, a lifelong resident of Ross County, left an endowment of $1.2 million to the Ross County Board of Developmental Disabilities, also known as the Pioneer Center. George’s brother, John Landrum, received over 30 years of service from the Pioneer Center. George was very involved in John’s life and cared a lot about him. John lived with his parents until they passed away and then he lived with George.

“We are grateful to Mr. Landrum for his generous donation and overwhelmed by the lasting impact his gift will have,” said RCBDD Superintendent Leia Snyder. “We are also thrilled to be able to honor the memory of John and his brother George by funding special projects and initiatives that will improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities in our community.”

Applications for the Fund’s grant round are available at www.AppalachianOhio.org/Landrum, and will be accepted beginning Monday, December 16, 2019. Applications are due by Friday, January 31, 2020.
