The following is an update for Pioneer School:
Dear students and families,
Due to the Governor’s recent order, Pioneer School will remain closed for the rest of the school year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Educational services will continue throughout the remainder of the school year as will food delivery and remote therapy services for students who are receiving those. Although we miss teaching and seeing our students in person, we understand that the most important thing is to keep everyone safe and healthy during this time.
For that reason, we have also made the difficult decision to cancel all school events for the remainder of the year including our traditional graduation ceremony. While this is disappointing, we are working hard to find creative ways to recognize our students who are graduating this year, and we will be in touch with graduates and their families soon to discuss our plans.
Finally, we are cancelling all summer camps for the 2020 summer. We are evaluating options to safely provide supplemental services and programs to keep students engaged over the summer. We are also working on long-term plans to re-open Pioneer School safely when we can do so.
I want to thank all of you for your patience and your willingness to work with us through these challenges. We will continue to do our best to make sure you all have the supports you need. Please contact us if you have any questions or need assistance.
Stay safe and take care,
Leia Snyder, Superintendent
