The forecast is calling for temperatures dropping below zero this week. They also expect dangerously cold windchill which could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. The following precautions are recommended by 10TV to prepare for cold weather:
- Check on the elderly, people with disabilities, and those with medical needs.
- Keep pets indoors.
- Keep space heaters is a safe location where they will not tip over. Make sure alternative heating units are in well ventilated areas to make sure carbon monoxide doesn’t build up and become a hazard.
- If plumbing lines are known to freeze, keep a constant flow of water by leaving a faucet or two dripping.
