The Developmental Specialist provides specialized instruction and parental coaching for families who have children who are eligible for Early Intervention (EI) services. The Developmental Specialist performs developmental evaluations and assessments for children referred to and enrolled in Ohio Early Intervention. This position will also include getting the PLAY Project Consultant certification and provide play-based programming for eligible children.
Responsibilities include administering developmental evaluations to all children, scoring and interpreting the results of all developmental evaluations and assessment in a manner that can be understood by parents, caregivers and other professionals, maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation for each child enrolled, as well as attending continuing education trainings, seminars, trainings, staff meetings, conferences, professional growth activities, RCBDD In-Services. Completion of Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Social Work, Psychology or related field. Certified as a Developmental Specialist by the DODD or be eligible to acquire certification per DODD rule. Six-to-twelve-month experience working with infants, babies, and toddlers with developmental disabilities preferred. Excellent computer literacy and data entry skills as well as communication skills. Ability to act in a professional manner in family’s homes, in work-related meetings and in public.
