Adults

Adults with developmental disabilities receive support in several areas that allow them to live as independently as possible. These supports include work skills training, job placement assistance, self-help and daily living skills, housing, transportation, financial management, and recreational opportunities.

The Ross County Board of DD in partnership with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities coordinates employment services. These services may include vocational habilitation, individual or group employment support and career planning and discovery. These services are provided by community partners and funded through the county board and Medicaid. Competitive community employment is always the desired outcome of employment services. SSAs serve as employment navigators assisting individuals to navigate their place on the path to employment.

Resources

Pioneer Center believes in the Employment First philosophy that every person has abilities, skills and talents to enrich the community and people around us. We envision a time when every working-age adult with developmental disabilities has opportunity to explore their career options and seek jobs that fit their skills and interests.

The Job Seekers Guide is a collection of resources provided by Employment First that educate individuals and their families and offer tools to help them become employed in their communities.

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is the State of Ohio agency that partners with Ohioans with disabilities to achieve quality employment and independence.

Service & Support

A service and support administrator (SSA) is a person who works for a County Board of DD and is assigned to a person with a disability to act as the primary, or main point of coordination for your services and supports. Your SSA is a troubleshooter, problem-solver and an advocate for you.
